BCHLA Privacy Policy

This privacy policy sets out how BC Home Learners' Association ("BCHLA") uses and protects any information that you give BCHLA when you use this website.

BCHLA is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

BCHLA may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from December 2010.

What we collect

We may collect the following information:

• Your contact information including mailing address, phone number, and email address
• Information about your current homeschooling status

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to keep an updated roster of our current membership, as per the BC Society Act and the BCHLA Constitution and Bylaws. The information we ask for helps us understand your needs better and facilitates the provision of:

• Notification of AGMs, Special General Meetings, and pending Special Resolutions
• Email newsletters regarding homeschooling in BC or BCHLA activities
• Access to a BCHLA Members-only Yahoo Discussion Group to keep you informed about the BCHLA
• Collection of general statistics about the BCHLA membership, such as total number of learners currently registered (Section 12) and enrolled (DL or DES), to help the Directors better represent our membership to the BC Government

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Controlling your personal information

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless required by law.

If you believe that any information we have on file for you is incorrect or incomplete, please contact us as soon as possible.
